Yes it will work anywhere that you put it and will use temperature from your room to turn on air. Mine is in the front not door of house and gets all the heat from open and closing door. Can’t wait for the sensors. Hope this helps

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Nest will keep the the temperature at what it is set for in the room you place it. If you want to control the temperature in a different room than the thermostat, they recently came out with a remote sensor you can put anywhere you wish. https://nest.com/thermostats/nest-temperature-sensor/overview/ Understand, you will be able to control the temperature in only one spot per thermostat.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Nest Thermostat being installed in your master bedroom shouldn't have much of an affect on how it works. The Nest Thermostat will use the ambient temperature in the master bedroom to determine when it would need to come on or go off to cool or heat the home. We do have Nest Temperature Sensors that are available for pre-order that can help you control the temperature throughout the house with the Nest Thermostat. Also, if you're concerned when the Nest Thermostat will know if you are home or away, you can use Home/Away Assist within the Nest app: https://nest.com/support/article/Learn-more-about-Home-Away-Assist
