No, at least from what I've been able to determine. The base is the base, and the display is white on black, though it changes color when it's heating (and, I presume, cooling).

The background is black, but turns red when heating and blue when cooling, the background color is not configurable otherwise. However the display sleeps so it is generally all black. You can configure how it wakes, motion, proximity, or manually pressing the unit.

The background only changes two colors blue for when it's cooling on a c and orange when it's heating on the heater

Base doesn’t change colors. Only the face changes. And the colors also change on your phone app.

Yes, the latest generation Nest changes color according to the mode set , if we set heat it turns orange....if we set cooling it turns blue.
