Sounds like something isn't wired right. I would reach out to Nest and they can assist you. Their support in troubleshooting a software issue with my original thermostat took a bit but they knew what they were doing.
A:AnswerI have installed my nest in an older system which did not have a C wire. This worked for a one zone configuration. If your home has more that one zone, you will need to run a C wire. If your controller does not have a C terminal, you can use a relay to create one.
A:AnswerI think you have to purchase 2 Nest thermostats as these are hard wired to each furnace. We are in the same situation, although we've only purchased one for now. It does require WIFI so be sure you are near an internet wifi connection to make it work correctly.
