Yes. I have the same set up. You are controlling two different areas and that requires separate thermostats.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes - if you have 2 thermostats then you have two ‘zones’ in your home. Where there is a thermostat, there is a return vent that takes some airflow out of the loving area and back down to the AC unit where there is an internal thermometer which is what sends back to the nest what the air temp is. That’s how your unit will know to turn on (temp not = to what you set it at) or stay off (temp is = to what you set). The return vent will look just the same as all the other vents you have in your floor or ceiling, it will just be right near the thermostat location.

Please try again later.The Nest Learning Thermostat works independently like your existing Nest, so each thermostat would need to be replaced with a Nest if you'd like to control both zones in your home remotely.
