• I doubt it if it will work, my third wire was not connected properly and it did not work till I got that fixed.

• You should use the compatibility analyzer on nest site. It will ask you to check what wires your have and if your system will work.

• By the 2 wire system, they mean the High Voltage (110V) themostats. It does bot work with the High Voltage thermostat. Usually, the High Voltage thermostat is wired by wire nuts.

• They have a system compatibility test on nest.com that asks you which wires you currently have. It looks like many of the two wire systems need a to have a C wire, but there may be a configuration that doesn't.
