I'd like to run photo's across the the Pixel Tablet, using it like a picture frame when not using it for calls etc. Am I able to run my google photos and will it continue whenever not in use or will lt time out and stop? null

Excellent question, Didi. Yes, when your Pixel Tablet is locked and charging, it can display a screen saver of your choice, including from your Google Photos.
