Yes you still need an internet provider as this is just a wireless router
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.These pods will work be themselves, however, I am not sure what benefit that would give you. Without cable, fios, or dsl, you have no access to ANYTHING. Sure your devices in your house can talk to each other, but you are totally disconnected from the outside world. I guess another way of me reading this is you want to hop onto a neighbors wifi with you Google Wifi. Then you can share that connected with the other "pods" in your house. If that is the case, I believe the initial "pod" has to be hardwired to your modem.
