Devices must be plugged into AC, not POE compatible. I have one puck hardwired with Cat5e to gateway and one connected wireless. While the hard wired puck is getting faster throughput, both are achieving download speeds in excess of 100MB so I am not finding a disadvantage to connecting wirelessly. 3,800 sq ft townhouse on 3 levels and pretty happy with 3 puck system.

no. power is required for each and every individual mesh router that you plug in so no you do have to have a power outlet close by regardless

No PoE, this is a bummer, but I think it draws more power, it has a 15W adapter. A slight downside, but the rest of the product is fantastic, can't go wrong.

I am not sure, since I use the google wifi system to replace a Linksys router. It has been working terrific. Sorry for not being able to answer your question.
