“I can see the little tuck-away component for using other tripod or hand holding device. How strong is it? I worry it will snap easily, since it is a folding component. Any insights will be greatly appreciated.”

It’s pretty strong. I’ve used it on a GoPro mount under a drone, and it’s held really strong.
