Will this work on a 43" tv? null

It probably would. Being that it is for much larger TV's you would probably have overlap in the lighting on the back of the tv and thus a much heavier spot of light saturation on the tv that would then not mimic what is on the screen.

These would be too long for a 43" tv. It would work but there will be quite a bit of extra lights.

Yes, you will just have extra length on the light strips. It may be awkward to install because the bendable sections for the corners won't line-up with your TV, but with patience it's doable. I bought this for my mom for Christmas, even though she has a 43", because I know she wants to upgrade her TV in the future.
