I know the question is old, but for anyone else with the same question: I received both model #s for Christmas, and according to the boxes, there is no difference. Every word on the packaging is the same. The only difference is there is a slight color difference in the packaging. The only thing I can think of is they are for different re-sellers. The 49940 came from Sam's Club, and the 49976 (same as Best Buy) came from Amazon. There also appears to be a price difference.
