“My question apply's to the Roku. I'm not familiar with it. Is this a subscription you have to have to make the apps work. I am going to use it mainly streaming Netflix etc. Any explanation would be appreciated.”

• There is no monthly subscription required to download apps and use the TV on its own. But you can choose to subscribe to the Roku streaming app, which will give you access to many movies and shows.
