i know this question may sound stupid but does the controller pieces work with the joycon connector? for example can i put them on the rechargeable one and use it like a normal controller as well. null

No you can’t.
The controllers do not need to be recharged.
The are supplied power via the switch itself, so it may drain the switch battery power faster than other controllers that have their own rechargeable batteries.
Also the split grips will not fit into the standard joycon controller that was supplied with your switch.

They don’t have a battery, they use the switch battery. They MUST be connected to the switch for use

No... they only function as controllers in handheld mode. They don't function in the way you describe, or as separate controllers for docked mode.
