- A:Answer These don’t have their own battery. They only work while attached to the switch so there is no need to charge them. Playing your switch with them attached in handheld does drain your switch battery faster than regular joy cons.

- A:Answer It doesn’t charge but it gets power from the switch when attached. The controllers stop working when you take them off the switch.

- A:Answer No, the controllers only work when attached to the sides of the Nintendo Switch. They don’t work wirelessly as separate controllers.

Q: QuestionDoes the controller work by itself? Like as if you had one or two joy-cons separate from the tablet. I was wondering if you could connect the two halves together and use as a single handheld wireless controller for tabletop or desktop mode.

- A:Answer No, unfortunately they do not function put together like a standard controller. They do not charge either, they run off of your Switch battery, and they are ultra comfortable and responsive.
