Yes I would think so. I have been using mine for business applications word, excel and the speed is good. Might be a bit basic if you plan to use it for gaming.

Because it's running Windows in S mode, you can only install software that you purchase from the Windows store. You'll need to check with your professors to see if they have some piece of software that they use that isn't available in the Windows store

I say "tentative," however, because your particular courses MAY need more power/storage/memory. Check with your school and/or instructors for a better estimate. Also, I recommend upgrading to at least 16GB, and more if you tend to multitask.
