17-X114DX. I looked up by this specific model name and what I found is it comes with 2 DDR4 slots and HP puts a 2GB stick into one and a 4GB into the other one. They do it apparently because of the high price of DDR4 but does not mean you cannot add more. While the original architecture or i5 7200U supports upto 32GB of RAM, HP with this specific model, however is limited to a max of 16GB, that is the limit you can upgrade your memory upto. I hope it helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes you absolutely can add up to 16gb of RAM. I have researched and googled till i am blue in the face. lolol. The reason is the one on sale for $369.00 and has 4gb ram and i can't believe BB is charging $80.00 extra for a measly 2gb ram extra is ridiculous. So get the one for 369.00 take out the 4gb and buy 2 - 8gb sticks on crucial.com for $97.00+tax and save some money. *If you are mechanically challenged, you might as well buy this(ripoff)for 449.00.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I asked the sales rep at my local Best Buy store and they said that I couldn't expand the RAM capacity. But I'm not sure if that's at all or just through them that I couldn't have additional RAM put in.
