• I had the same problem. I bought an external disc drive that plugs into the usb. It worked great.

• Hello, yes you can definitely purchase Home and Student during the purchase process and you will receive the link from Microsoft to download without the disc needed. You can also purchase Office 365 and receive the additional benefits if you'd like to. Thank you for being an HP customer!
