HP may say that the RAM is not user upgradeable, but that is often a lie. They may also say that the PC only supports up to 16GB of RAM, but that is a lie as well. I have an HP 15m-bq121dx from late 2017 with the Ryzen 5 2500U that I purchased from Best Buy in March of 2018. It came with 8GB (2x4GB) of DDR 2400MHz RAM and a 1TB 7200RPM hard drive. HP's website and the Service and Maintenance Guide said that the RAM was not user accessible/upgradeable, and that the laptop only supported up to 16GB of RAM. I was able to EASILY access the two sticks of RAM in the laptop and initially upgraded it to 16GB (2x8GB). Just a few months ago I installed two 16GB sticks of RAM for a total of 32GB of RAM and it works perfectly. I also have an NVMe SSD and a 2.5" SATA SSD installed in it. It's incredibly sad and dishonest of HP to pretend that the RAM in their laptops isn't accessible/upgradeable, when in fact it is, or to claim that the laptop only supports up to 16GB when it is in fact capable of supporting more than that. They do this because they want you to buy a more expensive laptop like the Spectre line.

When HP states it is "not user accessible/upgradeable", that generally means it is not easy for the user to access and an authorized service professional is recommended for upgrades. This is true for both models. Some third-party sites state that this model can handle up to 32GB of RAM and the other model can handle up to 64GB of RAM, but according to the HP Maintenance & Service Guide, both models support up to 16GB of RAM, which was the amount tested by HP for this particular laptop series. Beyond that limit is up to the user and authorized professional to discuss and decide.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have this laptop and I successfully upgraded it to 32 GB of Ram with 3200Mhz Ram 2 x 16Gb sticks. When they say it's not easy to upgrade they are referring to the T5 star bit screws on the bottom of the laptop but anyone who is fairly adept at servicing laptops will have that on hand. This being the model of laptop doesn't have soldered ram. But even if other types do you should still be able to access a single slot with 16GB +4 for a total of 20GB.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Here is the service manual from 15m-ee0023dx but it does not explicitly mention that model. I assume it applies to this eu0023dx as well. Navigate to "Removal and replacement procedures" -- "Component replacement procedures" -- "Memory module" which clearly explains the procedure for replacing the memory. Again, I cannot guarantee that the procedures listed in the manual works on this model, but chances are that it is the same. http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06618426.pdf
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi Its upgradeable to 64gb. when the specs list it as 2x4 ( 2 slots of 4 each) both slots are upgradeable. if it wasn't, one or both slots would be listed as "onboard" . the onboard slots are soldered in. I find in general most HP Envy 15.6 laptops have upgradable ram. usually 16 or 32 gigs work best.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hello my friend I am seeing your reply under the hp envy 15m-eu0043dx review which is a little different product of the same line. Do you think this one can be upgraded too by a tech service? I mean I dont going to put a hamd over it, but for a specialist is possible to upgrade from 8 to 16 or 32 RAM? thanks!
