Yes, the screen can flip over to become a tablet (it rotates backwards from the keyboard, so you can have it as a regular laptop, fold it like a tent, or fold it flat like a tablet). It weighs 4.8 lbs, so it's not too heavy to have in your lap, but it's much heavier than a regular tablet if you're carrying it around.
