• The drum is built into the toner cartridge and is changed every time you put fresh toner in. It does have FAX abilities. You can even direct it to send FAXs to email, to another fax machine, to a folder on the computer, and with the mobile app on your phone, you can send faxes from your phone no matter where you are. Handy stuff that I love about this machine!

• Hi Sandy, thank you for asking. The LaserJet Pro MFP M428fdw uses an integrated toner-drum unit. Every time you replace the toner, you'll also be replacing the drum. Yes, the M428fdw has a fax component.
