QuestionCan this hold legal and standard size paper at the same time for documents that require both while printing?

- Answer The HP Laserjet Pro M428fdw printer does have two trays. One tray is a paper cassette. The other tray is a multipurpose tray. Both trays can handle paper up to legal size paper. So, you could put letter in one and legal size in the other tray. This printer does have an option to add an additional paper cassette tray that holds up to 550 pages and it handle up to legal size paper. That part number is D9P29A.

QuestionIt doesn't look like this printer can be installed on the network for other workstations. Is that correct? And if so, what does HP have with comparable options that is network-able.

- Answer I installed my LaserJet Pro MFP M428fdw on my home network, and I print from 3 home computers, 2 laptops, 2 cell phones, and 2 iPads, all via the network. Works flawlessly. The printer has it's own email address, so it can print directly from any computer/laptop that is not connected to the home network, but has access to the internet (HP ePrint). Also prints via Apple AirPrint, and Google Cloud Print. Additionally, it has its own WiFi radio, so it can be addressed directly over its own WIFi network, in case my home network goes down.

QuestionI need to print documents that contain a mix of 8.5x11 and 8.5x14 in no particular order. Is this printer capable of printing these documents in this manner? Can this printer properly sort them in their correct order?

- Answer The answer is no. You have to manually set the paper size each time, insert paper, print and the change paper size.

- Answer The document feeder on the top of the printer can hold up to 50 sheets. You can email documents right from the printer-no need to save it to the computer first.

- Answer The HP LaserJet Pro M428fdw printer comes with Preinstalled HP Black LaserJet Toner Cartridge, 58A, which yields about 3,000 pages. The regular replacement toner, 58A, would yield about 3,000 pages. The high yield replacement toner, 58X, would yield about 10,000 pages.

- Answer No, I'm sorry but the HP M428fdw is only a black & white LaserJet printer and can not use color toners.

- Answer Best Answer: There is confusion about this feature which hopefully this clarifies. Yes the 428FDW will print and scan double sided pages via single pass through machine, but NOT the 428DW. The 428DW will NOT SCAN a double-sided page via single pass through the machine. To SCAN a double sided page using the 428DW, you must manually flip the page over and re-insert in ADF (or put on flatbed) to scan the other side of the page (i.e. the 428DW requires two separate manual passes to SCAN a double-sided document).. If you want to SCAN a double-sided document via single pass, you need to purchase the 428FDW, which DOES have the automatic duplex scanning feature using the ADF.

QuestionDo you need to buy a drum? Does this have a fax component?

- Answer The drum is built into the toner cartridge and is changed every time you put fresh toner in. It does have FAX abilities. You can even direct it to send FAXs to email, to another fax machine, to a folder on the computer, and with the mobile app on your phone, you can send faxes from your phone no matter where you are. Handy stuff that I love about this machine!

- Answer This printer has one paper tray that can hold up to 250 sheets and 1 multipurpose tray that can hold up to 100 sheets. You can add an optional paper tray (product number D9P29A) that can hold up to 550 sheets.

- Answer A laser printer like this isn't a great choice for either T shirt design or photo printing Those are not things that laser printers are particularly suited for. A printer like the OfficeJet Pro 9015 or 9025 would be a much better choice for those two types of work.
