• Not true. Although if one function messes up the whole thing may not seem worth keeping, there can still be operable parts. How long a multi-function printer lasts is all going to depend on the product, user, and workload. I have an HP Officejet Pro that I've had for over 5 yrs now. The printer finally went on it a few months ago but all the other functions still work.

• Laser printers work better, they won’t make mistakes even if you haven’t printed in a while.
