“IF I have a large number of documents (say 900) adding up to about 800MB, all PDF format, can I set this printer up to be like a print on demand device without a computer? Just need to be able to use the display to find the correct file and print.”

I'm not entirely clear on how you're looking at setting the printer up, but I know that it has a front USB port and supports "Walk up printing", meaning you could insert the drive and print directly from that. You could also set it up on a wired network and print from a server on the network. If neither of those are what you're looking at, if you can give a little more detail we may be able to answer the question more fully.
