“When scanning to a pdf file, can you compress pdf file size without losing resolution? My current HP9010 scans 20 pages or so and turns it into a pdf with a file size of 10-15MB which is huge when emailing 2 or 3 attachments at once.”

Yes. the easiest way would be to lower the resolution. Going from 300 to 150 dpi would reduce the file size to about 1/4th the original size
