“Is this printer have proprietary software to make it work? Can I just use generic HP driver included in windows to print right away? Secondly, how well it is for use with non windows OS, like Linux Ubuntu or CentOS?”

• I have Windows 10, I used the CD that came with the printer to download the driver.

• I'm pretty sure you can just add the printer in the "Printers" section of control panel. I downloaded the printer software though. Any OS with the ability add a printer should be able to connect to it. I recommend using a USB cable because the wireless isn't always very reliable. Good luck!
