The problem may be your document type. What I mean by document type, is whether you are saving it as a PDF, JPG, BMP or DOC...etc. Also, Canon may also simply use a higher compression algorithm. HP software may allow you to compress your scanned image at a higher compression, however you will have to compare your results to see if a higher compression diminishes the document quality. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm able to always reduce file size on my Mac by using Preview and saving the file smaller. If it goes to small it will lose quality but you can play with the levels. I also believe if you open scanner from Your computer before scanning, it allows you to Choose quality which affects size of file
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It's most likely due to the resolution you selected on the scan dialogue. For example, if you're scanning those 4 pages at 600 dpi in full color into a searchable PDF, that adds up. If there are images involved in addition to b/w text, then file size grows even more. Try setting the scan resolution to 200 dpi.
