Yes, it also has WiFi Direct which will allow you to connect to the printers own Wireless Network for printing.

Dear Lynne;

I have not experienced any problems with Apple products with this HP 6979. Should work fine. HP does offer apps you can download for the iPad that will help in doing print jobs if your iPad doesn't recognize this printer naturally. Most times, the iPad finds the HP printers without grief.

You can if you use the HP ePrint feature and your printer is connected via Ethernet (or wireless). It won’t work if you plan on connecting the printer via USB. iPads need a wireless connection to use their native AirPrint feature, but HP’s ePrint capability works well via Ethernet with an iPad Pro (and some earlier iPads).
