“Will the printer be able to function normally if only black ink cartridges are installed? Meaning all slots black and no color cartridges? I don't require color printing for quite some time and will be needing to print in black in heavy volume.”

• All cartridges have to be installed but not all have to be used. With the HP instant ink program, you only pay by the number of pages printed, not the content. You save about 50% on the cost of the ink, so print anything you want.
