“Why buy the two ink packs with the purchase if the "8 months free ink plan" is included with the price of the printer? After the 8 months are up then what - what do I pay to remain in the program? Am I able to opt out? Thanks.”

You are able to opt out. The HP Instant Ink program has 3 basic program plans. In the Instant Ink program, you pay for pages printed not ink. The 50 page per month program is $2.99/mo the 100 page program is $4.99 per month, and the 300 page program is $9.99 per month. You can set up one of the plans or switch to any plan at any time.
