• To make good quality copies yes. This is an amazing copier. My son was part of the design team. Don't limit the quality and function of this awesome machine by not using it as it was designed.

• Yes, the 8710 needs all cartridges present to print. A model like the OfficeJet 5255 will work with only one cartridge installed.
