This is the first wireless printer that I have utilized. It is of superb quality and so easy to get ready to use. It took me about 30 minutes from start to finish, and now I am thoroughly enjoying it with my Mac Book Pro 15!! The online step by step help is great, and the printer electronics are amazing!! The color print is very good, and I highly recommend this product!!

Bought this printer as an upgrade for my Officejet Pro 8600. Ink for my old printer was very expensive. Bought my new printer for the amount I would have spent for ink on the old one. My new Officejet 8710 is great. Very easy to install and everything works great. And the money I'm saving using the instant ink program is just icing on the cake. My new printer will soon pay for itself because of the savings of instant ink.

I strongly recommend this product! Double sided feature is PHENOMENAL! It scans and prints fast too! Worth the money!
Toner for black is $50 though. Quite expensive but runs like laser printing!

Was very easy to set up since I was just updating an older similar model. I did have some issues on use since the old software would not work with it. I used HP service and they were excellent. They got me up and running pretty quick. I find it is easier to do some of the functions with this new model. As an energy saver it does shut down after a bit so I find it takes longer to print something if it has sat unused for a while. But the actual printing is quicker. And I am getting used to the touch screen controls too. And the auto feed "actually works" and is part of the machine - no attachments to fall off all the time. Overall pretty satisfied with it.

I purchased this machine for my home office. I have printed roughly 200 pages on it already and I have noticed a few things.
1. It's loud! Know that I'm partially deaf so that's saying something. This machine makes a fair amount of noise when a print is engaged and the act of printing is even louder.
2. It's slow! Now if your printing in draft mode or strictly b&w, it's a little faster. But when you add color to the mix, it seems to drag out and even stop mid print to "catch up."
3. It ghost jams. I used slightly higher quality paper for a 100 run print and it got "jammed" every few pages. There wasn't an actual jam, but the process was halted each time none the less.
CONCLUSION: I would not buy this printer again. I've had success inside the brand, but this particular machine is more hassle than it's worth.

Terrible service, it's a scam. DO NOT Purchase.
I bought this service with my HP Officejet Pro 8710 printer in Nov 2017. I waited so long to review as I wished to really try out the system first and then post my experience.
Here's what happened.
For the first three (free) months, I didn't really have a heavy print load, so no issues. I got sent one package of CMYK (cyan/magenta/yellow/black) 952/952xl (for the black) cartridges and didn't have a chance to fully test it out. Like an idiot, I threw out the original cartridges that I got with the printer when they ran empty.
Well, after the 3 months, it so happened that I had a large load of prints and went well over the 300 pages limit per month. I was not completely ok with paying the excess @ $1/25 extra pages - ran to more than $30, in excess of my $9.99 per month limit. I had only a 300 page credit from my 3 months that i printed at most about 20 pages per month - this was the first issue.
The next month, I had considerable more pages to print, approx 900 or so. The charges, when I calculated it prior to printing, worked out quite a lot and I decided to cancel the subscription, with 3-4 days to spare before that month's paid period expired. I received an email from HP confirming the cancellation and stating that I would still be able to use the HP Instant Ink cartridges through the next 4 days till my subscription officially ended, but I would have to pay for any overages to my 300 page monthly print limit.
However, the moment I filed the cancellation, the printer started printing garbled sheets - heavy, stippled dots (see attached images).
When I called HP tech support, I got a guy (Johnny) from the Phillipines who was open about it - hey, if you cancelled the print service, can't expect to print, can you? I patiently (and politely) explained to him that per HP's email, I still had 4 days of usage left. He smirked and told me, words to the effect, yeah, that's the paper work. Reality is different.
This was before he started finding my Indian name amusing and took great pleasure in facetiously repeating it again and again.
Apart from being disrespectful, he was not able to find a solution. I told him I had 5 months of warranty left and he basically told me to go buy a set of new cartridges before contacting tech support. This was because my printer depleted the ink printing out the garbage - I have scanned a few pages for this review.
I ended up paying the overages INCLUDING the garbage pages (about 150 of them). Bottomline, if you choose to cancel the HP Instant Ink subscription, no matter how many days you have left in your month, they WILL switch off the service and stop you from printing - another way to ransom you into sticking to the HP Instant Ink program.
To crown it, this guy had the temerity to try and sell me Original HP Cartridges at the (according to him) 'LOW' price of $150. Prudently, I didn't opt for that purchase and went out to Staples and got a set for $105. However, I finally found third-party cartridges at about $40, which worked just as well as the OEM cartridges.
In the process, I found that HP tracks online the documents you print, actively blocks you from using third-party/refilled cartridges and in all other surreptitious ways 'encourage' you to pay through your nose for the grossly overpriced original HP Instant Ink cartridges. Which is why I shouldn't have thrown out the OEM cartridges that came with the printer - THOSE I could refill. Third party cartridges - HP Blocks from refilling.
I will NEVER buy another HP product again. For sure.

Brand response from HP Team

Hi there,
Thank you for your feedback and we are very sorry to hear you had this experience.
To clarify, Instant Ink is a subscription printing plan, meaning that if you cancel, the Instant Ink cartridges stop working at the end of your final billing cycle. They do not stop working the day you request cancellation, nor is print quality affected in any way by cancelling.
We’d like to provide you further assistance with the issues you mentioned. Please email us at [email protected] and reference this review.
Thank you.

We had the HP 8500 and it was time to get a new one. So we bought this one. Price was great and I was able to speak to the HP person right on the spot. The best part was installation was a breeze. I was worried about getting on my laptop with a wireless connection, but it was just as simpe. LOVE it!

One of the features about the HP Office Pro 8710 all in one printer that attracted me was HP's Instant Ink program. I think this is really going to work well for me, you can't beat the subscription price !

I bought a printer for myself and one for my older daughter. We had no trouble until we needed new ink. When we replaced the first cartridge in each printer said we needed a second. After we put the second ink in. We needed more. That’s when I decided to get two 4 packs at a club store but the printer said they were empty. I switched them for new ones and some of them were empty even though I checked them first. I finally got four inks to work in my printer but two were partly empty even though I didn’t print anything. I figured that was good enough so I started on the other printer. After an hour of switching a bunch of inks around ($400+) I got it to accept 4 inks but one was only half full and another was 3/4 full. I settled for that so I picked the printer up to take to my daughters house and black ink leaked out the bottom all over me, my floors and my truck seat. HP agreed to take the printers back and returned my money for them and half the cost of the inks. So I lost a couple hundred bucks on the whole mess.

It would seem that no one makes a printer that is worth a hoot - that is, if you read reviews of printers. We bought this printer to replace our HP Photosmart 7210 that finally (four years?) gave up the ghost and just quit working. I bought this machine simply because if offered the features we wanted and we have had reasonable success with HP printers in the past. It took a while to install the software and get the printer working properly. I had to call the Geek Squad once and HP Customer Support three times before I finally got the thing working properly. Some of the reviews claimed the printer disconnects from its wireless connection when in sleep mode. I have experienced this a time or two but not as often as some of the reviews claim. I cannot tell if it is disconnected or just slow to process the "print" command. It has usually worked fine in it's own time which is a little frustrating and one reason I only give it four stars. I have turned it off and restarted it simply to hurry it up once or twice but not lately. The printing and photos are excellent quality. The machine itself is BIG and takes up considerable space. It is quieter than our old 7210 but seems to be a bit slower. I haven't used the scanner yet but the fax works fine and it makes good copies. All in all I'm glad we bought this printer and would recommend it.

Needed for union business

My HP 8700 print head went bad and I need to print color. I shopped around conciding the cost of ink, as well as needing the ability to fax, scan, and copy, along with normal printing in color. My big issue is cost per page. I use my printer for both personal, as well as union business, so I need to be re-reimbursed for some of my expenses, and I need to be fiscally responsible to my membership. I am looking at doing a lot of printing, upwards of over 500 pages per month.
I have five kids living at home, two in college, three in high school. They all have their own computers, and I have a desktop and laptop, so the ability to print wirelessly is necessary. I had a lot of problems getting it set up to do so. I called the Geek squad the day after buying it, and they could not help me, and referred to the HP support. The HP guy was great! He figured out what the problem was, and it was not their product, it was my router. He went in remotely and configured it properly. We had a few issues with my internet provider at&t and needed some help from them. We got it all set up and working just great.
As for performance, the scaning is really convenient. I can put a document into the feeder, and it will scan and send the document to what ever computer I want it to, right from the screen, or I can initiate it from the computer, either way. And I have been doing a lot of that. The feeder sometimes feeds the documents unevenly though, but no problems with using the flat screen.
Fax, pretty simple. The only thing I wish is that it had a better way of doing the speed dial. Maybe I have not figured it out yet, but it would be nice to set up a phone-book so that when I need to fax something, I can just go into the screen and pick the recipient.
Copy, quick for a home printer. Good quality too.
Printing, does well. So far I have printed in color, B&W, both letters and envelopes. I wish it had two trays but that would be one of the other models for more money. I can live with this though. It is simple enough to switch from letter to envelope. I have yet to print out photo's though. But my 8600 did a very good job of that, so I have confidence this one will too.

For several years my go-to printer was the 8610 version of this printer. I loved its reliability— especially for printing photos, documents, and labels. I also used the scanning and copying features. Not long ago I was in the middle of printing on the 8610 when it stopped. To repair it would have been costly, so I went on the hunt for another printer. Imagine my delight when I found this option. It seems to be a clone of my previous printer and works the same. It seems to work even more reliably as a wireless device than my previous printer. I have put this printer through its paces over the last month or so to scan, copy, and print. It does not seem to print as well from my old laptop, but it prints documents from various iPads placed all over the house. This printer has a larger footprint than some devices used for personal use, but it does a big job that matches its size. I am a fan.
