Good question. This printer will not print if a color cartridge is empty.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No that's a downfall they have to have all cartridges.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Tho I have been a long-time HP fan, I am sorry to say the best printers are behind us - 8500 series and especially my 8620 were better All-in-one printers. When one of the cartridges, black or color, was low or empty, it asked if it could continue with the other. If black was empty, it asked if it could continue with color and vise-versa. The 8710 does not do that. I'm not a fan. Miss my very functional 8620.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. All current HP Inkjet printers are supposed to allow black and white printing even if a color cartridge is used up.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I haven't tried this yet, but why can't you just turn off the color? This should leave the black to stand alone and only print in black.
