• Go with the display port. It handles higher bandwidth than a hdmi.

• it is similar to hdmi and allows use of more the 1 monitor. it is not old vga or dvi. adapters are available that may allow use of a vga or dvi display/monitor

• VGA is analog, DisplayPort is digital. I do not know if there is a way to convert between the two.
