• You would want to base it off of the requirements of the software for the classes that are being taken. This laptop is designed around gaming and would be good for 3D rendering and some types of art design. If it is more about coding without the renders, you might want something with an i7 and not go with a GPU. Then you have things like AI design which might require higher specs based on what programs are being used and how they want the AI developed. If you have the information about the classes and what software is required, you can also take that to the Best Buy computer team and have them help you figure out what might be the best option for you.

• I had a simple dell laptop back in my college days so this would do fantastic. If you're going to be running multiple and/or heavy use programs then just upgrade the RAM sticks.
