It certainly can get that high when you're running the computer at close to it's maximum capacity for extended periods. If you're using the computer on a soft surface (like on a bed), that can block some of the vents and lead to higher temperatures, so try using it on a hard surface. The computer is designed to throttle itself back if the temperature gets too high.
