“I have purchased this. Anyone else having issues with the hdmi not showing a signal? When this happens at the very least I have to restart my MacBook Pro, but often this doesn’t even work. I replaced the hdmi cable with no change.”

You can't use the USB-C Extension Cable to connect your hub if you want to use the HDMI port. You have to connect the hub directly to the side of the laptop so that both USB-C connectors are inserted into the side of your laptop. I'm guessing it's a current draw issue.
