So when I purchased this PC I had the same problem, and I realized that whatever output to the display you are using, it must be plugged in to the graphics card, not the motherboard, as if it is plugged in to the motherboard it will be running off of Intel Integrated graphics. I apologize as I cannot provide a picture from my PC, but I found a random one off of Google that is pretty old, but it should still work. The area circled in red and labelled "VGA socket of add-in graphics card" is where you should plug your display cable into. This will run the display using your graphics card and will allow you to get high performance in nearly every game.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There are TWO graphics cards on this machine. My husband made the same mistake. Look lower, take out one of the red plastic plugs and put your HDMI in to that one. You've plugged the monitor into the Intel video card, not the Nvidia video card. Added picture with the correct video card circled.
