The plastic is there to protect it during packaging, shipping and setup. Its fine to remove it.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It should be taken off. I believe it is just there to prevent scratches during shipping. A little tip from my experience with this is to be sure that there aren't any scraps caught in the mounting tray where the bottom of the glass rests. Don't stress fingerprints while removing the film. The glass cleans up nicely with water and a rag/paper towel. I hope this helps!
