Yes it remains running but you have insert your key and turn it one click to the on position otherwise when you step on the brake it will kill the engine

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.When I turn on the car to warm up before leaving the grocery store, I would unlock it to open the trunk while it is running. It stays on and once I close the trunk door, all the doors lock again. I can unlock and open the door while the car is running. The only thing that will turn it off is if I press on the break without having the key in the ignition and turned to "on". ( Don't turn all the way, just til it hits on). Once the key is in the on position, I can press on the break and drive off. I have a 2016 Toyotal Sienna but I assume it should have the same functions for all other cars with a turn key ignition.
