If you are talking about gfci protection, this is not what you need. This outlet protects against electrical surges only.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This does not replace a GFCI outlet. They are two different outlets with different properties. A GFCI is used near water sources (generally - think Bathroom and kitchens) to prevent accidental electrocution. This is a surge protector which is useful for power surges or electrical strikes in the power line to your home.

Please try again later. If you are asking about using this in place of a GFI (ground fault interrupt) type of plug (like you would see near a water source or outside) , the answer is NO. This plug only provides surge protection as part of the plug. This would be used in lieu of having to plug in a surge protection device that other items would plug into so that they are protected from power surges.
