I believe they can be laid down but need to left upright, and unplugged for a period of time 24-48 hrs to let the oil settle prior to running. I read this online as a general rule, not model specific. It is heavy and could be a two person move depending on when you hit the weights last :) If you are in good shape and have a dolly you could probably move by yourself.
