As an OSHA instructor, I can say, yes, you can use an extension cord. That being said, it requires being a larger gauge than the existing plug, and, I would never use an appliance on an extension cord without a Ground Fault Circuit Interruptor (GFCI) at the end where plugging in the appliance. 

Cords and GFCI's are relatively cheap. Enjoy your cooker safely!

It is attached at the center of the back of the unit, about four feet long. Never use an extension cord on an appliance.
