QuestionDoes the cooktop stay hot - it was my understanding that induction will not, but on this item there is a CAUTION statement printed on the surface. Again, it is my understanding that the surface is either NEVER hot or cools off immediately.

- Answer Heater elements turn off instantly but residual heat still present on glass top surface. This is not not very hot and cools off quickly, since there is not as much thermal mass like with metallic cooking surfaces.

QuestionDoes it need to be unplugged when not in use? I have read that other models need to be unplugged when not in use and that seems very inconvenient when built in.

- Answer I have used my induction portable cooktop (made to sit on top of my counter) for years and years and do not unplug it and have not had any trouble so I do not think that it is necessary to unplug it after each use! However that being said I would think to be extra safe you could unplug it as the plug is usually easy to get too normally. Also to be extra safe when cleaning maybe unplug it, but I do not think that is necessary as usually just a quick wipe up with a damp rag on the top cleaning surface does the job. Never ever should you put your induction device under water to clean!

- Answer The literature stated anything over a 4 inch pan would work as long as it was induction capable. So four inch to whatever size you have but the burners are 6 inches across. So if you have a 15 inch pan that means the middle will be super hot but the edges will be less in heat because only the burner gets hot and its up to the base of the pan to disperse the heat to the entire pan. These are very small burners (6 inches across) and the 8 inch "warming zone" is and odd way to describe the 2 inches around each burner that apparently take the heat from the pan to create "a warming zone" in the base of the pan. It's really the area of your pan that won't be as hot as the center where the induction heat is being applied. So a bit of a marketing ploy to make you feel that you have an 8 inch diameter of heat.

Questioncan we turn on both burner in the same time on level 10? am I going to damage the appliance if both burner are on highest temperature? in this case, what is the maximum wattage we can use? is it going to share 1440W in both side? or 1440W for each side?

- Answer Dual induction units designed for 110 V wall outlets can not deliver full 1500 watt power to both burners simultaneously because that would exceed the capacity of a 15 amp wall outlet. For a full power unit look for 220 V

QuestionPower seems to go in and out when cooking. I will hear sizzling, then it stops, then it starts again. Need a consistent temperature for cooking, is this normal for induction or is there a problem with the cooktop?

- Answer Assuming that the cooktop is functioning correctly, it's possible that the induction function is being disrupted by the cooking method being used. If the pan is being lifted momentarily from the cooktop surface as part of the cooking method, the induction function will be interrupted and will resume when the pan again touches the cooktop. I myself will momentarily lift the pan to flip or stir the contents causing the induction function to be interrupted. It is important that the pan remains in contact with the cooktop for the induction function to work correctly. If you have kept the pan in contact with the cooktop during the "off and on" situation per your description, then the cooktop is suspect.

- Answer No you cannot use any pot on the induction stove top. For it to work properly, you need to use induction cookware. The heating is special on the cookware to work better on the induction stove top.

QuestionWhy does it say 6 inches of space under if folks say they set it right on top of the counter?? Mine sits perfectly inside the countertop however I have kept the drawer in the cabinet and love having access to utensils so please tell me.

- Answer There are two fans under the unit that need space to draw air so that 6 inches of space is needed for proper airflow. Without the proper airflow you risk over-heating the unit. I believe there is a paragraph in the literature if you wish to look into it further.

- Answer You cannot operate both burners at max at the same time. Since this cooktop draws a maximum of 12.5 amps, (your household 120 v. circuit can deliver 15 amps max) it will share the power between the two burners. It will probably turn down one or both burners automatically if you try to use them both at the highest setting. This is why built-in electric cooktops use 240 volt, 30 amp circuits. This is why the description says that you can use one burner for "keeping food warm" while you use the other burner to cook.

QuestionHow do you fix the child lock issue? When the stove is off, while holding the - , press the + , the child lock turns on and stays on. There is no way to unlock it unless you reset the power. How do you fix this issue?

- Answer Both settings will pulse the power to control heat of the cookware. Temperature setting takes advantage of a temperature sensor which measures the heat of the bottom of the cookware to cycle the pulses- in theory anyway. Generally only high end induction units control by temperature well. In practice I see the temperature of water in a stock pot vary by 20F or more from the desired setting. When buying a cook top that offers temperature control it is best to use a digital thermometer with a remote probe to measure the actual controlled temperature of the liquid in a covered pot after allowing an hour for equilibrium. I use a Le creuset 4-1/2 qt enamel cast iron oven for these tests. Another way is to observe chopped onions in a good quality multi-ply fry pan. They caramelize at 310F. Or a egg which should set at 165F and not overcook the center.

- Answer The burner will shut itself off if it does not detect a magnetically active pan on it. If such a pan is on the burner and it still shuts off it is defective. The cooktop beeps to warn you.

QuestionI am interested in the counter top induction cooktop. When not in use I would like to turn it on its end and put it in an under counter cabinet. Is that advisable?

- Answer Yes. The top is glass, so be careful putting things next to it that may scratch or chip it. Otherwise, it is safe to store it at any angle. Also, remember that after cooking, the glass top may remain hot for a little while. Let the cooktop cool before putting it away in storage.
