“If you use this cooktop on a countertop instead of as a built in, do you install the covers of the fans? It seems they extend so far that the appliance no longer rests on its feet.”

I noticed this also. I thought you might be able to extend the legs but didn't see how. Also not all pans work on it.

It's ok. Regardless. The fans covers are placed to protect bottom vents of dust's accumulation.
