I wanted to store this in my basement. it has very short carpet. (almost like indoor /outdoor) Is it safe ? I don't want it to be a fire hazard. I am not worried about the carpet possibly getting damp . should I get a freezer mat or place it on somethin null

Freezer or refrigerator should always be placed on solid non carpeted floor to function properly. I wouldn't recommend putting on any type of carpet. If you don't care about
the carpet cut the area out where you want to place the freezer.

Right now a freezer is too complicated for you to store and use properly. I suggest lessening your shopping to weekly so you use all the items stored in your refrigerator freezer without having to dilly dally around with something like this right now. Good luck!
