TV and box each need HDMI plug in. Cord you need is two male sides of HDMI. Not this one.

If your TV has an HDMI input and your cable box has HDMI output, you can use an HDMI cable to connect them. This is NOT that cable, though. You likely want one with two male ends. This is an extension (has one male and one female) and is used to make standard patch cable longer.
