“Is this supposed to come with a cover for the outdoor window vent? It's rather large and my window does not have a screen. I'm worried about bugs, birds or even small animals crawling into the unit.”

There is no cover provided in the box for the outside ventalation, but there is foam strips for the edges to keep air & bugs from getting in from the edges of the window.
