Last night was our first time using this. Was very disappointed that it didn’t make it all the way through the night without beeping, needing the water drained from the reservoir. Is this normal? If so this would be a useless product for us. null

If it's really humid, you will need to empty it every night in the summer.

It would not appear that there is anything wrong with the unit, but rather it means that you have a fairly humid environment and the humidity is collected at a higher rate.
The person who responded that they did not have to drain it for a longer period, likely has a drier environment, and their unit doesn't collect as much moisture.

I have used this product for about twenty hours and haven’t had to empty drain pan. Return it for another.

You can connect a hose to the drain hole and place the end of the hose into a drain or other type of container.
