The strip lights are connected to the IR remote receiver via a threaded M12 plug, so you will need to somehow secure this to the ceiling as well. The IR remote receiver has mounting screws so that won't be a problem. The lights have 3M tape on the back of them, but I would recommend using something stronger for a horizontal ceiling mount, or just mount them vertically near the edge of the ceiling if possible.
