• As long as it is plugged into a 3.0 port on the computer you can plug USB 2.0 and 1.0 devices into it and they will work at their rated speeds.

• yes it is compatible with USB 2.0 but works better with USB 3.0

• The included instruction sheet states it is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 (but with the lower transfer speed of 2.0).
